Our Story

How it started

Setotolwane Alumni Association of South Africa (SAA) is a voluntary and non- profit Company (NPC) that was registered in 2017. The birth of SAA follows a call made by Class of 1976. Few former students decided to visit the school on the 18th June 2016 to commemorate 40 years of June 16th. They were met with dismay, abandoned and dilapidating buildings were an eyesore to many. The one question that popped up in their minds was “how did such a glorious/prestigious school turn into a gracing field with classrooms turned into goats shelters?”. They were prompted to invite other 1976 alumni. The invitation for this reunion was extended through social platforms and by "word of mouth". The primary goal was to deliberate on possible options/projects that could be explored to rehabilitate the school for the benefit of mainly local children.

On September 18th 2016 a bigger group (mainly class of 1976) met and agreed on the following commitments;

  • Formation of an all-inclusive association for all former students and teachers who happened to be part of Setotolwane.

  • Put efforts together to bring back the former glory of Setotolwane that contributed towards producing men and women who play important roles in the country.

  • Identify projects that will maintain Setotolwane legacy

  • Attract all alumni and other interested people (nationally and internationally) to join hands in restoration of Setotolwane.

  • Contribute meaningfully towards local community development i.e. Alumni knowledge and skills to benefit the current and future generations.

  • Raise funds to sustain the school.
